Sada Baby released his breakout mixtape ‘Bartier Bounty’ in January.

Detroit is in the midst of a true rap renaissance, with artists like Tee Grizzley, Molly Brazy, Peezy, and Sada Baby all developing strong fanbases. Danny Brown, one of the city’s stalwart MCs, offered the latter a major endorsement on June 7 when he tweeted, “Sada Baby the best rapper in Detroit.”

Brown deflected the praise onto Sada after a Twitter user bestowed the “best rapper in Detroit” crown on him. Sada acknowledged Brown’s comments on Instagram and offered a compliment back.

Sada has let his own preferences be known about his hometown’s crop of MCs, and kicked up some controversy when he left Eminem out of his top five during an interview with Say Cheese TV. Sada also did not mention Brown in the interview, though the response was clearly off the cuff. He named artists like Big Sean, Blade Icewood, and Tee Grizzley.

Brown and Sada have never collaborated, though Brown is working on a new album, uknowhatimsayin?, and could look to secure a feature from the rising local star. Sada is currently touring with Blueface, NLE Choppa, and Asian Da Brat.

Sada Baby appeared on Genius’ series Verified to break down the lyrics of his breakout hit “Bloxk Party.”
